A Thank you to my Aunt

I am anxiously awaiting my Uncle and Aunt along with my two little cousins from Maine to come and visit this week.
When my Aunt was first married, several years ago, I can remember my very feminist attitude toward her and the sort of relationship she had with her husband.
Family members could comment to me on the way she did whatever my Uncle wanted her to, that she never stuck up for herself. I can remember my foolish comments that if I were her I would tell him right where to shove it.
Oh the foolishness of my feminist ways then. Now I can look at the relationship of my Aunt and Uncle and find something to greatly admire.
I cannot recall ever hearing my Aunt complain about my Uncle, she supports his mission and comes along side him in his mission. She is very supportive of his music band that my Uncle is a part of. I have never heard her complain about the long hours that it takes my Uncle away from her and their children.
rarely if ever have I heard her raise her voice toward my Uncle. She joyfully submits to him.
I am so blessed to have them as part of my life as an example to me the roles of husband and wife as God ordained them to be in his Holy Word.
Only a couple of short weeks ago I had a wonderful phone conversation with my Aunt about the family, the church and culture today. It was so encouraging to talk to someone who shared my beliefs on the subject.
So I want to say thank you Aunt Martha for the example that you are setting not only for me, but for your daughters and future generations. I hope your children someday rise up to call you blessed.

John Wesley on education

Let it be remembered, that I do not speak to the wild, giddy, thoughtless world, but to those that fear God. I ask, then, for what end do you send you children to school? “Why, that they may be fit to live in the world.” In which world do you mean, — this or the next? Perhaps you thought of this world only; and had forgot that there is a world to come; yea, and one that will last for ever! Pray take this into your account, and send them to such masters as will keep it always before their eyes. Otherwise, to send them to school (permit me to speak plainly) is little better than sending them to the devil. At all events, then, send your boys, if you have any concern for their souls, not to any of the large public schools, (for they are nurseries of all manner of wickedness,) but private school, kept by some pious man, who endeavours to instruct a small number of children in religion and learning together.” ~John Wesley
